HARPER’S FERRY MODEL 1841 MISSISSIPPI RIFLE ADAPTED FOR BAYONET NY H. LEMAN, LANCASTER, PA FOR PA TROOPS. NSN. Cal. .58. 33″ bbl. Front 2-3/4″ of the bbl has been turned to a smaller diameter to accept a socket bayonet. Front sight was turned off and a new one installed behind the turned area. Ramrod is a replacement. Nipple remains in the patchbox. Lock is dated 1854 but the one on the tang is not readable due to pitting. The number 474, the conversion number, is stamped on the left flat of the bbl and on tang. A large number 43 has been stamped on the left side of the stock near the buttplate and a 1-1/2″ x 1/4″ area has been cutout of the stock above this stamp. CONDITION: Rust-brown patina overall with moderate pitting and some signs of cleaning at the breech. Tang screw is badly defaced. Brass has a nice patina. Wood has numerous dents and scratches beyond those mentioned above. 4-47485 (2,200-2,800)
