SN 18301. (1911) Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 30″ Krupp steel bbls with broad matted rib, are engraved with steel type and “A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA.” There are 3″ triangles of simple scroll on breech ends. Bbl flats are stamped with grade, SN, and Fox proof. Typical case hardened action with automatic safety and dbl triggers is engraved with early style near full coverage of large open shaded scroll with punch dot background surrounding vignettes of dogs and game; a pair of quail on left, two walking snipe on right, and two setters in prairie scene on bottom. “AINSLEY H FOX” is under each bird scene. Scroll engraved trigger guard has SN on tang. Attractive darkly streaked and nicely flame figured European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over old, possibly orig Silver pad. Side panels are checkered. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend has usual Deeley type release. Bore diameter: left -.728, right – .730. Bore restrictions: left – .037 (full), right – .018 (mod). Wall thickness: left – .030, right – .029. Drop at heel: 2-9/16″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Neutral cast. Weight: 7 lbs. 0 oz. LOP: 14-1/4″.
