SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1873 TRAPDOOR CADET RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. Standard rifle with 29-1/2″ bbl, Buffington rear sight, 1-pc walnut stock, no visible cartouches or inspector marks, 1873 dated breech block and flat lockplate with usual markings. Front band has sling swivel with a hole for a stacking, which is missing. 2-pc triggerguard with sling swivel. Slotted head ramrod. SN 133894. CONDITION: Good to very good. No original finish remains on the metal, being a cleaned light gray patina with scattered light surface rust. Wood is sound and retains traces of original finish with usual numerous small handling and use nicks and dings. Bright shiny bore with scattered pitting. 4-47256 JR467 (400-700)
