CONFEDERATE ENFIELD PATTERN 1853 RIFLE. NSN. Cal. .65, 39″ bbl with no rear sight. Made by “E.P.BOND/LONDON” as marked on the lockplate. This has British proof marks on the bbl and Victorian issue marks near the buttplate. Sinclair Hamilton marks are stamped in the top of the comb. 7000 of these rifles were imported on the ship “Caroline Goodyear”. CONDITION: Gray patina mixed with pits over all, very heavy at the breech. Stock has been sanded. 4-47489 (1,500-1,800)
