SHARPS MODEL 1874 SPORTING RIFLE. SN 156102, all matching. Cal. .40-90 bottleneck, 34″ oct. bbl. The factory letter shows that it was shipped twice in 1876, the last time to Sharps dealer B. Kittredge. Bbl length listed in the latter sale was incorrect indicating that this serial number was used, probably twice, as stated in the R.L. Moore letter accompanying this rifle. CONDITION: Blue-gray patina over all. Rear sight has been replaced at least twice, currently with a 3-leaf fixed sight. Buttstock has been replaced with one from a carbine. Sling ring base is present but the bar has been ground off. Forearm is heavily worn. Action is good. 4-47094 (3,000-5,000)
