LINDY LOCKHEED SIRIUS AIRPLANE.

A classic and highly desirable airplane from the 1930s depicting a dual open cockpitted plane immortalized by Lindbergh. Manufactured by Hubley of Lancaster, PA. This airplane has wings with heavy embossing “Lindy” on the left wing, “NR-211″ on the right wing. Plane is enameled with a black fuselage and a red wing & tail section. The original plane was designed by Jack Northrop and in 1930 he set a speed record from coast to coast, but even more important, he used the same plane to fly to the Orient. Lindbergh modified the plane by putting a canopy over the cockpits, but obviously the Hubley toy Co. chose not to add this feature for obvious reasons. A great plane, not only for its historical value, but also for its desirability amongst toy plane collectors. SIZE: Approx wingspan: 10-1/2” w. CONDITION: Toy is in all original paint finish with no damage to iron castings. Overall is good plus. 1-76384 (1,750-2,750) – Lot 1410
