HUBLEY AMERICA CAST IRON AIRPLANE.

This is the largest cast iron airplane ever manufactured by any toy company. Circa 1930s, this huge plane features three engines that when rolled upon the floor the propellers would spin in unison. Often times toys emulated the real life like object but certain artistic liberties were taken such as in the case of this plane with the pilots sitting directly behind the center propeller in an open cockpit. A great plane, this one is of slightly later vintage as Hubley through a cost cutting measure reduced the size of the wheels which in reality was more in line with the overall appearance of the plane. Utilized were small wooden hubs with rubber tires as opposed to the over-sized steel disk wheels with black leather tires. Toy is enameled in a gray finish with red highlighting. Toy is 100% original with no breaks, damage, or repairs! SIZE: Wingspan approx 17″. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. Some fine alligatoring to fuselage. Tail rubber tire is present but somewhat elongated and flattened. 8-76383 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 1409
