SN 41692. Cal. .404 Jeffrey. 28″ Medium weight sporter bbl, fitted with one standing, four folding leaf express rear, and silver bead front, front sights in island bases. Top of bbl is marked “WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO LONDON” in left rear “FOR .404 CARTRIDGE”. Triangle mark is on flat at breech end. Standard length Model 98 Mauser action with stippled receiver ring is marked with SN on left side. Standard military bottom metal with locking screws retained. Newly made stock of stump figured and lightly marbled European (?) walnut reuses orig stock bolt, and steel grip cap, and features Silver type pad, right hand shadow line cheekpiece, and point pattern checkering at grip and forend. A vacant gold oval and a sling eye matching that soldered to bbl are on toe line. Drop at heel: approx 2-/8″, drop at comb: approx 1-5/8″. Weight: 9 lbs. 8 oz. LOP: 14-7/8″. CONDITION: Excellent, as custom refinished at time of restocking, with only a few light handling marks. Bore is good, dark in grooves, with considerable erosion at throat.
