ROBERT ROBINSON (American, 1886-1952) COLLIER’S COVER ILLUSTRATION OF A BOY WITH DAISIES AND HOUND.

Oil on canvas Housed in a molded wood frame Signed lower right “Robt. Robinson”, inscribed on verso “To Christie Scott Robinson 5/16/81”. Note: Robert Robinson was an American illustrator and originator of the Saturday Evening Post’s “Slice of Life” style cover art that was later popularized by Norman Rockwell. He illustrated regularly for the Hearst Corporation’s monthly Motor Magazine publication. The painting is a striking portrait of a young red haired boy wearing a straw hat and bright checkered shirt with denim overalls. He leans against a stump in a daydream, surrounded by daisies with his hound. This lot includes a framed copy of the original Collier’s cover illustration, dated “May 17, 1919 No. 20.” SIZE: 30-1/4″ x 16″.
