COLLECTION OF 5 HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE EARLY TO MID-20TH CENTURY STEIFF DOGS.

This charming lot consists of 2 Steiff Fox Terriers, a Dachshund, a Bloodhound, and Pug. The Fox Terriers and Dachshund are standing; the others are all sitting. The Fox Terriers and unjointed and made from realistically hand airbrushed mohair. Each has black claws, glass pupil eyes, and an embroidered nose and mouth. Both retain their original red collars. One Terrier has a working squeaker and the earlier red imprinted chest tag and US Zone tag for his IDs; the other has his raised script Steiff button and blue imprinted chest tag for his IDs. Postwar, Steiff’s Fox Terrier was produced overall from 1949-1975 in 11 sizes ranging from 7 to 36 cm. The Dachshund is Bazi, who is head jointed and made from copper-highlighted mohair. She has pupil eyes and a black embroidered nose and mouth. She retains her original blue collar and early red-imprinted bear faced chest tag as her ID. Standing Bazi was produced in 10 and 14 cm from 1950-1975. The sitting, blonde, head jointed Bloodhound is Treff. He is best known for his long, drooping ears, expressive eyes, and loyal disposition. His IDs have been lost to time. This model was produced in 9 sizes ranging from 7 to 50 cm from 1928-1938 overall. The pug is “Ball Mospy,” a rare and unusual head jointed item made from dralon and mohair. Her ears are lined in brown velvet. Mopsy’s face is detailed with large brown and white google style eyes, a black embroidered nose, and a pink felt tongue. She retains all of her original Steiff IDs. Mopsy was produced only from 1960-1961. SIZE: Largest is 10″ h; smallest is 3-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine collection.
