Watercolor and gouache Housed in a carved giltwood frame, matted under glass Signed lower right “Epstein” Note: Epstein was best known for his expressionist figurative sculptures. He was born in New York City, however, became an English citizen in 1907 after moving to London in 1905. Epstein married Kathleen Garman in the 1920s and was knighted in 1954 SIZE: Sight: 17″ x 21-3/4″. Overall: 28″ x 33″ PROVENANCE: Acquired in 1950 by descent from the niece of the artist CONDITION: Good overall condition, not examined out of frame. Old acidic mat and cardboard backing indicate this has not been out of it’s frame for some time. Small 1/4″ blemish upper right corner 50390-1 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 1395
