VERY EARLY ANIMALS ON METAL WHEELS.

This highly collectible lot consists of a cat and a horse, both on early metal wheels, and both most likely made by Steiff. The cat is circa 1910, standing, unjointed, and made from tan colored velvet. He is airbrushed with black stripes on his back, legs, and head. He has green and black slit pupil eyes and a simple tannish pink embroidered nose and mouth. He rides upon four metal wheels. His ears and IDs have been lost to time. The horse is circa 1910, standing, unjointed, and made from rust-brown felt. His mane is made from black wool and his tail is made from black string and probably not original to him. His face comes to life with black shoebutton eyes, pert felt ears, and a white felt forehead diamond blaze. He retains his original, highly detailed and ornate saddle, blanket, and partial reins. His IDs have been lost to time. SIZE: 5″ h and 6-1/2″ h respectively. PROVENANCE: A fine New England collection. CONDITION: As noted. Cat with gentle playwear, darkening, a few surface dings, and dust. Horse with a few minor holes and very light general losses. Otherwise good. 9-25045 (1,000-2,000) – Lot 1387
