FRANZ IFFLAND (German, 1862-1935) “PERSEUS”.

Patinated bronze Signed “Iffland” on base, with foundry mark on back of base “Bildgiesser, Kraas, Berlin” Note: Iffland was a Germany sculptor best known for his portrait busts of young women and statues of young children. The majority of his work was produced during the art nouveau period from 1880 to 1910, however, late in his career he produced a number of art deco bronzes of nude women and ordinary working people such as blacksmiths and farmers. He presented his work in bronze at the Great Art Exhibition held in Berlin in 1892. He is described as one of the most important German sculptor of the 19th and 20th century.
