*DANGEROUS GAME RIFLE ON COMMERCIAL MAUSER ACTION BY AUGUST SCHULER.

SN 25362. Cal. 10.75 x 68. 24″ Slightly tapered Bohler Antinit steel bbl is fitted with interesting elevation adjustable bright and visible ramp type rear sight with sleeved-on front ramp and sling loop. Makers name is inlaid in silver under rear sight, and steel type is in silver at each end. Commercial Mauser action (no. 103764) is fitted with scarce orig side safety (a $35.00 option in 1939), and dbl set triggers. Hinged floorplate has release in trigger guard bow. Mauser logos are stamped on recoil lug and bolt root. Nicely streaked European walnut stock measures 14-1/2″ over orig Silver pad, and features squared right hand cheekpiece, and well cut checkering at grip and forend. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refinished, when G&H type side mount was removed. Mounting holes professionally welded up, and slot in stock plugged. A groove remains in receiver ring to accommodate low position of mount base. Otherwise bbl and most of action retain over 95% orig blue, and stock retains most of its oil finish, with a slight chip behind tang. Superb bore, bright, sharp and shiny throughout. Action is smooth. This cartridge was maligned in the past, due to poor bullet design. With modern mono-metal bullets and powders, it is capable of taking any game anywhere. 51040-2 MGM223 (2,500-3,500) C&R – Lot 1359
