Handel table lamp has “Treasure Island” reverse painted scene with ships at full sail beneath a bright full moon. The light of the moon reflects on the waves and ship’s sails. The shade is further decorated with palm trees along the islands edge against the night sky. Exterior of shade is decorated in chipped ice. Signed on interior edge “Handel 6391” with artist initials “H.B.” Shade rests on original Handel base with urn shaped body, having incised decoration around the shoulder. The vertically ribbed riser leads to a three socket cluster and fleur-de-lis heat cap. Base has a rich brown finish. Signed with inscribed “Handel” on foot rim. SIZE: Shade 18″ dia. Lamp 23″ t. CONDITION: Shade is very good to excellent. Base is very good to excellent with some very minor blistering. Re-wired with contemporary plastic cord. 51088-5 (6,000-8,000) – Lot 1353
