BRONZE “MELODY” by A. CARRIER BELLUESE.

A French gilt-bronze figure in the Belle Epoch style, cast from a model by Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887) depicting a classical muse holding a lyre. Sculpture has applied plaque at front of base “MELODIE Par Carrier-Belleuse (Sculptr)”, inscribed “A Carrier Belleuse” on lower right of pedestal, and impressed “676” on lower reverse side of pedestal. SIZE: 31″ t. PROVENANCE: From a Toronto collector. CONDITION: Light surface wear appropriate for age, one elbow with light scratches and wear. One lyre string likely a replacement, finials at top of lyre missing. Otherwise very good. 49808-34 (8,000-12,000) – Lot 1340
