COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH BLACK POWDER FRAME.

SN 157954. Cal .45 Colt, 5-1/2″ bbl, blue and case colored finish, checkered hard rubber grips with Colt medallions. Bbl, ejector rod, cyl, base pin, base pin retaining screw, frame screws, hammer, trigger, and grips are all replaced with post-war Colt parts. Bbl has Colt address on right side, left side is marked Colt SAA 45. Frame is orig Colt, as are the trigger guard and backstrap. Cyl has a rampant Colt stamped on the rear face. Trigger guard is stamped with an “&” on the left rear trigger guard bow. This may indicate that the revolver was rebuilt at the factory post WWII. Frame has 2-line patent address on forward left side with rampant Colt in the circle to the right. SN’s match on frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Grips are post-war with Colt address on inside. Grips have been scratched on the inside with the SN of the revolver. Revolver is accompanied by a Colt factory letter showing that the revolver was originally shipped as a 44 WCF cal with 5-1/2″ bbl, blue finish, and rubber grips to E.C. Meacham Arms Company, St. Louis, Missouri, on December 31, 1894 in a shipment of 5 guns. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepherd Collection. CONDITION: Bbl and ejector housing have 95% Colt blue finish with sharp markings. Front sight is full sized. Bore is frosty with visible rifling. Frame, trigger guard, and backstrap are all a silver gray patina with some roughness overall. Patent mark is sharp. Colt logo is faint. SN’s are sharp. Hammer has bright sides, fine knurling and about 50% blue on top and back. Grips are good. Checkering is worn on both sides. Colt logo is sharp. This is an old Six Shooter that was probably sent to the factory and rebuilt after WWII. 50062-6 TEP (1,000-2,000) – Lot 1337
