*COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH CHECKERED HARD RUBBER GRIPS.

SN 319318. Cal. 38 WCF. 5-1/2″ bbl, blue and case color finish, checkered hard rubber grips with Colt medallions. Bbl has 1-line address on top with cal mark on left side. High front sight. Frame has 2-line patent mark on forward left side with Rampant Colt logo in circle to the right. Assembly number 277 is stamped on rear of loading gate and on right rear of frame. SN matches on frame, trigger guard and backstrap. Cyl is unnumbered, grips are unnumbered. Accompanying this revolver is a Colt Factory Letter confirming cal, bbl length and finish with stocks not listed and showing shipment to Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Company, St. Louis, MO, on October 28, 1911 in a shipment of 9 guns. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepherd Collection. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 70% bright blue finish with most of the wear on left side turning a plum/brown patina. Markings are sharp. Sight is full size. Ejector rod housing retains 50% bright blue finish in protected areas with the balance turning a silver/gray patina with some blotching. Frame retains about 30% orig case colored finish with some vivid color in gullets in front of cyl. Markings are sharp. Hammer retains 50% muted case color. Trigger retains a generous amount of fire blue. Screws retain a generous amount of fire blue, especially the hammer screw. Trigger guard retains 20% blue finish in protected areas around trigger loop with the balance a plum/brown patina. Backstrap retains 20% bright blue finish, especially on apron and butt. Backstrap is a plum/brown patina with high point wear. Cyl retains about 20% blue finish with some bright blue in the flutes, striation marks around the periphery, a slight drag mark and some roughness on the face. Chambers are clean. Grips are very good with sharp checkering. Grips are turning slightly brown, which is common, and are slightly under-sized.
