HANDEL REVERSE PAINTED TABLE LAMP.

Handel table lamp has dome shaped shade with reverse painted band of red and orange poppies encircling bottom half of shade with shaded green leaves, stems and buds finishing the band. All set against a light tan background. Exterior is finished in chipped ice. Signed on interior within painted band “Handel 5706 US Patent No.” (which is not completely legible). Shade rests on original Handel base with simple round platform foot and slightly bulging stem with impressed vertical decoration near bottom. Base is complete with two socket cluster and pierced heat cap. Finished in dark brown patina with green highlights. Signed on underside with applied cloth tag “Handel Lamps”. SIZE: Shade is 16″ dia. Lamp is 22″ t. PROVENANCE: From the Unreserved Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Brian Bojesen. CONDITION: Shade is very good to excellent with some very minor roughness to bottom of lip. Base is very good with brass spacers added to bottom of socket cluster, some minor wear and discoloration to finish. Re-wired with contemporary plastic cord. 50361-13 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 1317
