LARGE CARVED WOODEN ARTICULATED FIGURE DRESSED AS FASHION LADY.

Although dress is sewn firmly around the figure it appears that the mid torso, upper arms and legs are carved wood with joints at the knees and elbows, head, shoulder, and lower arms appear to be made of a painted terracotta or plaster material, the lower legs also have painted stockings and molded and painted black boots. The legs also have an unusual hook and eye lock to prevent legs from bending. The facial features resemble that of an older woman with wig made of human hair. The costume is a late 18th century style with narrow waist and blue brocade center panel. SIZE: 31-1/2″ t (80cm).
