LARGE CRECHE LADY AND SMALLER SEATED GENTLEMAN.

Lady is probably the earlier part of the 20th century with what appears to be inset glass eyes, more recent clothing, but the typical wire armature body with wooden lower legs gessoed over with paint. Woman has a serene almost sorrowful look about her face and black light indicates the paint to be original or at least 60 plus years old. Included with the lot is an earlier Creche seated figure of a gentleman with original clothing, pants heavily frayed. The gentleman has finely carved hair, a great facial expression, and a heavily carved short beard. Sitting on a wooden post, gentleman also has studs in his feet, and more than likely was made to stand up. SIZE: Lady overall is 20” t. Gentleman overall is 8” t in seated position. CONDITION: Back of head at neck has had some repair/damage but not visible from front. Overall condition is fair to good, fingers are intact but showing paint loss. 1-15154 (500-700) – Lot 1309
