COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER.

SN 137315. Cal .44 WCF, 7-1/2″ bbl, full blue finish, checkered hard rubber grips with Colt medallion at the top and American Eagle at the bottom. Bbl has proper 1-line address with index mark toward receiver. There is a small “44” stamped on bottom of bbl with 2 British proof-marks in front of it. Bbl is rolled “Colt Frontier Six Shooter” on left side. Frame has 2-line patent mark on left side in front of rampant Colt in circle. Loading gate has assembly no. 98. SN matches on frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Forward left side of trigger guard bow is stamped “44 cal”. Last 3 digits of SN are scratched inside of both grips. Cylinder has small British proofs at the rear behind each flute. Accompanied by a Colt Factory letter stating there is no record of this revolver. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepherd Collection. CONDITION: Very good as totally refinished. Bbl shows a smooth plumb blue patina overall with some muzzle wear. Bbl has sharp bbl address and roll-die mark. Front sight is full sized. Bore is frosty with sharp rifling and some stain toward the muzzle. Ejector rod is an even plumb brown patina worn bright at the forward end. Frame retains 90% of the dull re-blue finish with sharp markings. Trigger guard and backstrap are plumb brown patina overall with sharp markings. Cylinder is plumb brown patina with high-point wear and a slight drag-mark. Proofs are sharp. Grips are fine with sharp checkering and very crisp Colt medallion and Eagle. Left grip is turning somewhat brown which is common. Action will not stay on half cock. A very nice early roll-died Frontier Six Shooter that was possibly blued in England. 50062-4 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 1302
