Oil on canvas Housed in what may be its original frame handling an oval stretcher Unsigned Verso of frame is inscribed “Master Rawl Sir H Lawrence” and in faint script “George Morland by Joshua” At the top of the oval stretcher is an impressed mark; Back stretcher has stencil “9826” NOTE: Reynolds & the Morland family were close and it makes sense he would have done a portrait at this time SIZE: 19″ x 16″. Overall: 26″ x 23″ CONDITION: Early lining with some inpainting, very good 50807-8 (2,000-4,000) – Lot 1301
