RARE MULATTO FASHION DOLL ATTRIBUTED TO JUMEAU.

Unusual bisque head incised “E.J. N.10″ with cafe-au-lait tinted bisque with brown inset glass eyes, thick multi stroke eye brows, open mouth with protruding upper lip and rose shaded lips, four large upper teeth, elongated swan-like neck, on flat cut neck opening. She has been attached to a newer bisque shoulder plate with specially constructed appendage to fit into the doll head. Great detail has been taken to achieve the same color. The body is an antique leather body with gussets at the elbows, hips and knees that has been painted to try to match the color of the bisque parts. She wears a curly black mohair wig and a two piece cranberry silk 1880s style costume with brocade trim. In addition there is a lithographed covered wood dome trunk containing many extra pieces of clothing and accessories, including two ivory handled parasols, a pair of antique brown leather fashion boots, two hats one of felt and ice blue lace and another of antique straw with green silk ribbon, a flea comb, faux tortoise shell headband, a miniature photo album with tintypes, a woven shoulder bag, button hook, two skirts, a two piece printed cotton skirt and waist coat and a flannel cape.
