COLT ETCHED PANEL FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER.SN 52459. Cal. 44 WCF. Nickel finish with 7-1/2″ bbl, full front sight, missing the bbl address. Left side has “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” etched panel. Left side of frame has 3-line patent dates with “44 C.F.” on left front web of trigger guard. Mounted with varnished 1-pc walnut grip that has matching four digits of SN in backstrap channel. Grip may be a replacement. Ejector housing is 3rd type with half-moon ejector rod head. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter which identifies this revolver in Cal. 44-40, bbl length and type of stocks not listed, blue finish and shipped to John P. Moores Sons NY, NY, August 28, 1879 in a 22-gun shipment. Apparently the nickel finish was applied at a later date. Also accompanied by an LLBean brown leather, sheepskin lined case. CONDITION: Very good, all matching including bbl, cyl & grip. Overall retains about 80% nickel finish that has turned milky. Etched panel is completely legible. Grip is an old re-finish.
