EXTREMELY RARE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH BLACK POWDER FRAME IN .41 COLT CALIBER WITH 7-1/2″ BARREL, ONE OF ONLY 161 PRODUCED.

SN 151570. Cal. .41 Colt. 7-1/2″ bbl, blue and case colored finish, checkered hard rubber grips with Colt Medallions. Correct 1-line bbl address. Correct cal. mark on left side of bbl. Full-sized front sight. Colt patent mark on left side of frame in front of “Rampant Colt” in a circle. Matching SNs on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and inside of grips. Ejector rod not removed. Cylinder is unmarked. There is a very small hole drilled in the bottom of backstrap where either a lanyard ring or possibly a display stand was mounted. Accompanied by a Colt Factory Letter confirming cal., bbl length and finish with grips not listed and showing shipment to Montgomery Ward Co., Chicago, IL, October 9, 1893 in a one-gun shipment. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Joel Hankinson. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains 80-85% bright blue finish with sharp bbl address and cal. mark. Most of wear is on left side toward muzzle and around muzzle. Bore is very good with some staining and strong rifling. Ejector rod housing retains 80% bright blue with some light abrasion on outer edge and forward end. Frame retains 60% mottled case color with vivid color in gullets, at front, and under loading gate. Screws are fine and retain 80-90% of their fire-blued finish. Hammer retains 20% mottled case color in protected areas. Trigger retains 50% fire-blued finish. Backstrap is a pleasing plum patina with bright blue behind hammer and traces of bright blue overall showing through patina. Trigger guard retains 30% bright blue mostly in front of trigger guard around SN blending into a pleasing brown patina overall. Cylinder retains 20-30% bright blue overall with a slight drag mark and some erosion on face of cylinder. Grips are fine with sharp checkering, no cracks with last four digits of SN on right grip and last two numbers on left grip. Grips are turning a pleasing brown color as is common on revolvers of this vintage. Action functions perfectly. This is a rare opportunity to obtain a Colt Single Action Revolver in an extremely rare configuration that would compliment even the finest collection of Colt Single Action Army Revolvers. 50055-3 TEP (12,000-15,000) – Lot 1296
