LOT OF 2 COLT CARTRIDGE REVOLVERS: 1862 ROUND BARREL CARTRIDGE AND POCKET NAVY CARTRIDGE.

SN 4333/5994. 1) Cal. 38 RF. 3 1/2″ bbl. Blue and case colored finish. 1-pc varnished walnut grip. SN matches on bbl, frame, trigger guard and backstrap. Cylinder is no. 111 and arbor in no. 225. Grips were not removed but fit very well. Wedge is unnumbered. 2-line bbl address, 2-line patent mark on left side of frame. Cal. mark on left side of trigger guard. 2) Cal. 38 RF. 4 1/2″ bbl. Blue and case colored finish with silver-plated trigger guard and backstrap. 1-pc walnut grip. All markings are correct for this model. SN matches on bbl, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, arbor and cylinder. PROVENANCE: The Dr. Robert G. Cox Estate Collection. CONDITION: 1) Very good. Bbl retains 10% bright blue in protected area around wedge with balance turning a pleasing plum-brown patina. Some batter marks on right side of bbl lug. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Frame is a gray-brown patina with traces of case color in protected areas. Hammer has 50% case color. Firing pin has 80% fire blue. Cylinder has 10% blue at rear portion with a very strong cylinder scene and Colt’s patent mark. Screws are good. Trigger guard and backstrap have an even mustard-brown patina. Grip retains 60% varnish finish with high point wear especially on left side. 2) Very good. Bbl shows silver-gray patina overall with sharp bbl mark and legible SN. Front sight is worn down. Frame is gray-brown patina. Patent mark on frame is sharp. Cylinder is gray-brown patina with traces of cylinder scene and visible SN. Hammer shows 20% case color with 50% fire blue on firing pin. Screws are good. Trigger guard shows 80% silver finish with flaking overall. Backstrap shows 5% silver in protected areas. Grip is worn smooth and slightly undersized. Action will not stay on full-cock. A nice pair of early Colt cartridge pocket revolvers. 50019-154 (1,500-2,250) – Lot 1286
