COLT 3-1/2″ ROUND BBL CONVERSION POCKET NAVY REVOLVER.

SN 323440. Cal. 38 CF. Blue & color case hardened with 3-1/2″ rd bbl & pin front sight. Left side of frame is marked with the 1871/1872 patent dates & left shoulder & trigger guard is marked “36 CAL”, stamped over “31 CAL”. Cyl is rebated with 5 chambers & stagecoach holdup scene roll marking. Mounted with varnished 1-pc walnut grip with last 4-digits of matching number in backstrap channel. About 6,000 of these fine pocket revolvers were produced 1873-1880. They were very popular as pocket & muff pistols & usually saw hard service. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepherd Collection. CONDITION: Fine to very fine, all matching except wedge which is numbered 15,000. Bbl retains about 75-80% orig blue & the cyl about 20% with about 70-75% stagecoach holdup scene roll marking. Frame & hammer retain most of their orig case colors, bright on the right side of frame with scattered light pitting, more faded on the left, strong & bright on the hammer, faded on top edge. Grip shows very light wear & retains about 95% orig varnish. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore. 50062-78 JR136 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 1283
