MARTIALLY MARKED COLT 1860 ARMY WITH LONDON PROVISIONAL PROOF MARKS.SN 31560. Cal. 44. 8″ round bbl with blade front sight. 1-line New York U.S. Address with proofmarks on left side of bbl. 6-shot cylinder with remnants of Ormsby Naval battle scene. Also with provisional proof marks on rebate. 4-screw frame cut for shoulder stock. Left side of frame marked “Colts Patent”, 1-pc walnut grip. Brass trigger guard, iron back strap, wedge is mismatched. Butt is carved, right grip is marked “F.F.”. Left grip with what appears to be a “C”. Right grip with name “AJ Waro”. Both grips with martial cartouches. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Good. All metal surfaces have a clean appearance with light pin-prick pitting. Cylinder scene is mostly gone. Matching SNs except wedge as noted above. Grips are good with scattered handling marks and minor losses at toe. Mechanics are good.
