SN 16434. Cal. 22 Remington Autoloading. 22″ rnd bbl, Marbles No. 2 front sight with Japanned black finish and brass insert, orig Remington bbl sight. Gun is fitted with a Lyman 5A scope with correct mounts. Receiver is treated to D grade heavy arabesque scroll engraving on left and right receiver panels as well as receiver top, bottom and trigger guard, with border wavy line and punch dot engraving. Barrel breech engraving and forend iron with wavy line and punch dot engraving. Deluxe grade walnut with grain and figure. Checkered in 3-point diamond pattern. Remington/UMC marked buttplate. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains a majority of its factory blue with thinning in spots, handling marks towards muzzle and several scattered. Orig scope retains much blue with blue loss from travel in mounts. Clear optics. Screw missing from bbl sight. Receiver engraving is sharp. Orig strong blue on receiver with high edge and carry wear on underside and grip tang. Left side of receiver shows two circles of blue loss which cataloger believes are from production. Screws are excellent with the slightest of marring. Excellent wood finish which appears mostly orig with dulled area on underside of grip. Checkering sharp. May have had light wiped on finish at one time. Minor handling marks. Bore is bright. A very nice unique engraved Remington Model 16. 50426-28 TJW (6,000-9,000) C&R – Lot 1236A
