*SCARCE ORIGINAL GERMAN WW II STEYR VG-5 BOLT ACTION RIFLE.

SN 6421. Cal 8mm Mauser, 21 3/4 ” bbl. Marked on top of rcvr band, “bnz 45” W/eagle firing proof on bbl. Bolt numbered 5153t. Wooden stock without provision for buttplate is slotted for sling and has rudimentary forward sling loop. Deeply embossed initials “MR” in stock on toe line forward and rear of trigger guard. Fixed rear sight. Simplicity, functionality, and abbreviated production time was the mandate when producing these rifles. CONDITION: Near excellent orig gray Parkerized finish with orig squared-off unsanded stock and stamped somewhat darker blue follower. Sharp rifled bore turning dark in the grooves. This VG-5 rifle is as original as can be found. Late WW II Germany’s production of a rifle about as simply as possible which still fires the 8mm Mauser cartridge utilizing a 5 shot fixed magazine.
