EXTREMELY RARE AND UNUSUAL ROUND BARREL COLT 1851 NAVY WITH PROVENANCE.SN 174071. Cal. 36. Unusual 6-1/2″ rnd bbl marked “SAML COLT” on top surrounded by light engraving, limited blade front sight. Six shot rnd cyl. 1-pc walnut grips with brass front and backstrap. This exact pistol is pictured on pg. 55 and discussed on pgs. 55-56 of Nathan Swayze’s book ’51 Colt Navies. An extremely rare 1851 Navy variation. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Poor to fair, all metal surfaces with scattered light pin prick pitting. Grips with losses, drying cracks and repairs at shoulders on left, losses to shoulder on right, overall no finish remains, scattered battering marks throughout.
