*WINCHESTER PRE-WAR MODEL 70 BOLT ACTION RIFLE.

SN 2307. Cal. 270 WCF. Very early rifle with pre-war safety and cloverleaf tang. Rear receiver bridge has clip loading slots and matted surface without sight attachment holes. Bolt is numbered to rifle. 24″ bbl with stippled ramp hooded front sight with replacement blade, filler in rear sight dovetail along with Lyman 48 receiver sight. Straight comb walnut stock with 22 lpi hand checkering, sling swivels and checkered steel buttplate. PROVENANCE: The Jon Roark Collection. CONDITION: Bbl and receiver have very good orig rust blue finish showing light wear at muzzle and at bolt handle. Floorplate and trigger guard have very good refinished blue. Unsanded stock has light coat of added finish, with scattered handling marks and shows an area of abrasion on bottom of forearm with deep gauge on right forearm checkering.
