GEORGIAN PRESENTATION HOT WATER URN.Georgian sterling silver urn has round stepped foot and classic urn body with two applied reeded sterling silver handles with acanthus leaf decoration. Urn has reeded spigot with colored ivory handle. Engraved on backside with presentation reading “Presented to, Capt’n P. Somerville of His Majesty’s Ship Eugenie as a small acknowledgement of his efficacious assistance and protection granted to the Swedish East India Company ship Sophia Magdalena when she was drove on the shore near the south foreland bilged and endangered of being plundered of her cargo. By his obedient servants and obliged friends, Chalmers & Cowie agents to the Swedish East India Company.” Dated 1802. Urn is hallmarked near top. SIZE: 12″ t. Weight is approx 39 troy oz.
