Gorham Sterling silver asparagus tongs in Medallion pattern have central medallion at top of tongs with woman’s head on one side with wheat in her flowing hair against stippled background, while other side features ancient soldier with curly beard and hair wearing battle helmet decorated with stars and plume. Long tongs feature nicely engraved and pierced bottom while opposite tong has long chased talon design. Tongs ride on central cylindrical shaft to control side to side movement. Marked on inside of tong with Gorham hallmarks “Sterling” along with retailers name “Shreve Stanwood & Co.” SIZE: 12-3/4″ l. Weight is approx 8 troy oz.
