SN E869752. Cal. 20ga. Marked 2-3/4″ chamber, 28″ bbl with solid matted rib. Silver tone front bead with brass mid-bead. Bbl marked FULL choke. Scroll engraved wedges at bbl breech. Bbl marked “MODEL 1897” ahead of Winchester trademark marking. Right side of bbl is marked with Winchester address and patents. Proof mark on left side of bbl rib and left side of receiver top matting. Trap Grade style forend with prominent figure. Checkered in diamond pattern. Forend slide bar is marked “MODEL 1897 WINCHESTER” with trademarks and is enclosed by two gold inlaid parentheses. Takedown pump action. Bolt is marked “TRAP GUN”. Checkered hammer. Receiver has been treated to fantastically executed engraving. Left side gold inlaid flying grouse with two gold Pointer hunting scene. Game scene surrounded by foliate scroll with full scroll work around border of receiver side. Receiver borders have been inlaid with fine gold wire. Right side of receiver has wonderful game scene with gold Pointer and two flying gold grouse, again, with foliate scroll and border engraving. Straight grip feather crotch highly figured stock with black diamond inlays on right and left side at grip. Fluted comb. Winchester marked buttplate. PROVENANCE: The Jon Roark Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine. This gun is in nearly new condition after its stunning upgrade. High quality factory type rich blue is retained on nearly all surfaces of this gun’s metal work with only the slightest wear to forend slide bar. Bbl and magazine tube show nearly all finish. Some blue loss on magazine tube from sliding the forend. The most tiny marks on left front edge of receiver from takedown reassembly. Minor blue loss on bolt edge from travel. The highly finished stock and forend retain all professionally applied satin gloss finish. Checkering is perfectly sharp and wonderfully executed. Buttplate is in pristine condition.
