SCARCE COLT MODEL 1848 BABY DRAGOON REVOLVER WITH CASE AND ACCESSORIES.

SN 4955. Cal. 31. 3″ oct bbl with cone-shaped brass front sight and 2-line NYC barrel address. 5-shot rnd cylinder with Indian fight scene. Left side of frame marked “Colt’s Patent”. Brass backstrap and trigger guard are silver plated. 1-pc walnut grips. Housed in what appears to be an orig walnut casing with Colts Patent American Eagle Flask, screwdriver, loading tool, a tin of percussion caps and small pouch of lead bullets. Interior lining of box in royal blue velvet. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 40-50% bright orig blue just starting to tone. Frame with hints of mousy gray orig case color still present. Cyl scene is 85-90% visible and strong. Backstrap and trigger guard retain about half of their orig plating. Grips are excellent with great fit and retain 70-75% orig varnish, only minute losses at toes. The casing is excellent. Lid with minor grain separation at back and very minor warping.
