SCARCE COLT MODEL 1848 BABY DRAGOON REVOLVER WITH CASE AND ACCESSORIES.

SN 4955. Cal. 31. 3″ oct bbl with cone-shaped brass front sight and 2-line NYC barrel address. 5-shot rnd cylinder with Indian fight scene. Left side of frame marked “Colt’s Patent”. Brass backstrap and trigger guard are silver plated. 1-pc walnut grips. Housed in what appears to be an orig walnut casing with Colts Patent American Eagle Flask, screwdriver, loading tool, a tin of percussion caps and small pouch of lead bullets. Interior lining of box in royal blue velvet. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 40-50% bright orig blue just starting to tone. Frame with hints of mousy gray orig case color still present. Cyl scene is 85-90% visible and strong. Backstrap and trigger guard retain about half of their orig plating. Grips are excellent with great fit and retain 70-75% orig varnish, only minute losses at toes. The casing is excellent. Lid with minor grain separation at back and very minor warping. Accessories are very good. Lining of case with moderate soiling. Most compartments are very good with only minor separation. 49973-433 JSL138 (6,200-8,200) – Lot 1180
