RARE COLT 3RD MODEL DRAGOON CARTOUCHED WITH MEXICAN EAGLE ON BOTH SIDES.

SN 11382. Cal. 44. Usual configuration with 7-1/2″ bbl, full front blade sight, six shot cyl. Marked on right side of frame “COLT’S US”. Brass front and backstrap. 1-pc walnut grips cartouched with Mexican Eagle on both sides and are marked “Republica Mexicana”. Backstrap with commemorative non-factory inscription “PRESENTED TO DAVID K. TORREY / COLT’S AGENT-MEXICO CITY JANUARY 9, 1951”. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Fair. No original finish remaining. All steel parts with light to moderate pitting and corrosion throughout. Left side of bbl near muzzle heavily pitted as is right bbl side of bbl assembly. Cyl with no original scene present and remnants of SN and what appears to be scroll engraving at cyl stops. Grips broken and repaired on both sides near top of frame, both toes with repair, overall with restored finish and shrinkage, grips likely restored and enhanced.
