STETSON HATS TIN SIGN.

This is without a doubt one of the most sensational examples of iconic Americana advertising. Sign is captioned “John B. Stetson Company/Fine Soft & Stiff Felt/Hats/Philadelphia, PA. U.S.A.” and designed as lettered banners set against a filigree lattice work background. The John B. Stetson Company of Philadelphia made their mark not only with their early Stetson hats for the cowboys of the American west but also manufactured top hats and bowlers for the financial movers and shakers in the east. This sign was produced by the F. Tuchferber Co., Manufacturers, Cin., O. using stone lithography and is dated May of 1896. SIZE: Image: 27-1/2″ w x 19-7/8″ h. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: Near excellent and appears to be in its original frame. 1-14729 (1,000-3,000) – Lot 1171
