VERY RARE COLT LIGHTNING BABY SADDLE RING CARBINE WITH FULL NICKEL FINISH.

SN 49306. Cal .44 WCF, 20″ light-weight bbl, full nickel finish. Figured American walnut stocks with checkered fore-end. Bbl has standard 2-line address in front of rear sight. Standard carbine sights. Rear sight is mounted in reverse. .44 cal in large letters at breech end of bbl. Receiver has “Rampant Colt” logo stamped on left side, SN is stamped on lower tang. Saddle ring is mounted on left side of receiver. Buttstock is un-marked with nice figure on the cone and toward the wrist. Buttplate is un-marked. Fore-end is checkered with nickel screws. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 70-80% orig nickel finish with some roughness on the right side near the muzzle. Bbl markings are sharp. Sights are very good. Rear sight retains 70% nickel finish. Front sight shows traces of nickel. Bore is dark with strong rifling. Receiver retains 80% orig nickel finish with sharp Rampant Colt mark on left side. Receiver has flaking overall with most of the loss around saddle-ring right side and lower tang. SN is sharp. Hammer and trigger retain 80% orig nickel finish. Stocks are fine with only minor scratches and dents overall and a nice burnish oil finish. Buttplate retains 20% orig nickel with some dark staining on the back end. Fore-end is fine with sharp checkering and only a few small dents. An opportunity to obtain a very rare Lightning “Baby” Saddle Ring Carbine that only weighs 5-1/2″ lbs. Full nickel finish is also extremely rare. 49973-26 JSL (4,000-6,000) – Lot 1165
