BEADED AND INSCRIBED BUFFALO HIDE CARBINE SCABBARD.

SN NA. 31″ long with 3 bands of beads at throat and 3 separate bands of beads running down the face. Upper band is bordered with red beads with a panel of white and greasy yellow beads in center with a Christian cross decoration in black beads. 2nd band is red with a flag motif in center. 3rd band is white with a flag motif in center. 4th band is blue with a flag motif in center. Bead work is only on 1 side. Scabbard is inscribed below top band “TOMMY” over “3 FLAG” over “U.S.ARMY” over “SCOUT”. There is also a 3 flag motif next to letters “3 FLAG” and a crossed sabre motif next to “U.S. ARMY”. Between 2nd and 3rd band there is a crossed sabre motif. There is a steel stud at the muzzle end. Scabbard is lined with red trade cloth. Scabbard is made to fit at Winchester carbine. CONDITION: Very good. Bead work is complete with some minor damage to 4th band. Beads appear to be attached by sinew thread. Scabbard has been repaired along edge with black cotton thread. 49767-10 TEP (1,500-2,000) – Lot 1163
