JIRO TAKAMATSU (Japanese, 1936-1988) SHADOW OF TWO KEYS (SKELETON & CHURCH KEY) “NO. 211”.

Lacquer and metal hook on wood panel Signed, dated and titled on verso “Jiro Takamatsu 1968 No. 211” along with “UP” with an arrow, bears Tokyo Gallery, Tokyo, Japan SIZE: 13″ x 9-1/2 x 3″. PROVENANCE: Descended through the family of Robert H. Chase of Greenwich Village. Robert Chase & his partner, Robert C. Hunsicker were both avid collectors of art, antiques & many other items that piqued their interest. Mr. Hunsicker was the Vicar of St. Paul’s Chapel in NYC and in the 1980’s the two purchased a large, old farmhouse in Sandisfield, MA and filled it with their acquisitions.
