You are bidding on a wonderful original Winchester Shotshell store display poster from THE AMERICAN LITHOGRAPH NY COPYRIGHT WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO 1908 . A humorous portrayal of a skunk being prodded out of a hollow log. An African-American father, his son and their dog are reacting to the skunk raising its tail as their shotgun is propped against the log. Titled “SHOOT THEM AND AVOID TROUBLE” at the bottom of the piece, with “WINCHESTER LOADED SHOTGUN SHELLS” at the top, with the picture flanked by THE/”W“/BRAND logo on each side. This wording was widely regarded as inappropriate and led to huge pressure on Winchester to remove the aforementioned slogan. Mounted in contemporary frame. SIZE: Image measures 33″ long x 25” wide. CONDITION: Generally Very Good. Colors remain vibrant. There is a 5 inch tear on right side at middle does not interfere with graphics or image.
