NON-REGULATION PRESENTATION GRADE STAFF & FIELD OFFICER’S SWORD AND SCABBARD. Of the type and style made by a number of Solingen, German manufacturers. This sword has a 31″ straight single edged blade with etched panels on either face depicting an American eagle and motto and “U.S.” Hilt has a fancy three branch knuckle guard with foliated termini and openwork. Counter guard is cast with an American shield and laurel leaf decoration. Pommel is cast with decorative elements as well. Grip is of leather covered wood with straight wire wrap. Scabbard is of steel with small cast brass mounts having an American shield and war trophies. CONDITION: Good, the blade is a medium to dark gray, etching is visible but not sharp. Hilt is dark and uncleaned, wire is loose on the grip. Scabbard has aged a dark brown with light surface rust. There are two dents on the back face, and the mounts are dark and uncleaned. 4-46007 CW (1,200-1,500)
