Please note: Great news, we have learned that this painting is listed in Chase’s own log book and was titled “Fishing Village, Denmark”. It was also part of a special auction which included forty works by Chase sold in St. Louis auction November 21, 1876 to a Mr. Benjamin Harmon Brownell, a noted collector in that region. A photocopy of the 1876 newspaper covering the auction will be included in this lot.
