VERY EARLY WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 FLATSIDE RIFLE WITH 3 DIGIT SERIAL NUMBER.

SN 419. Cal 30 US. 28″ rapid tapered bbl. Blue finish. Straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent butt. Standard markings for this model. Nickel silver blade front sight. Sporting rear sight. Receiver is of the scarce flatside variation with no markings on side of receiver. Upper tang is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL 1895”. SN is stamped on lower tang beneath lever. Lever has solid loop construction. Trigger tang has Winchester patent marks. Stock is unmarked. Forearm has ebony insert in schnabel tip. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl shows a silver-gray patina overall with sharp markings. There is some roughness on left side toward muzzle. Sights are very good. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver is a silver-gray speckled patina overall with some carry wear on bottom of magazine. Upper tang mark is sharp. Lower tang shows traces of orig blue around SN. Markings are sharp. Stocks are very good, have been cleaned and are slightly under-sized at tang. Stock has a provision for a sling swivel that has been filled. Stock has numerous scratches and dents overall and considerable battering on forend. Buttplate is a gray-brown patina overall.
