*L.C. SMITH PRE-1913 PIGEON GRADE 12 GAUGE EJECTOR SHOTGUN.

SN 213564. Cal. 12 ga. 30″ bbls, 2-3/4″ chambers, Mod & Full chokes. Single front beads, concave matted rib marked “HUNTER ARMS CO MAKERS FULTON NY”. Gold band inlaid in rib, pigeon vignette engraved on rib extension. Splinter forend with banjo release with ebony wedge at tip. Pigeon Grade ejector receiver. Left lockplate engraved with pigeon in flight scene with scroll. Right lockplate engraved with pigeon in flight scene with scroll. Moderate scroll work on bottom and top of receiver. Double triggers. Straight grip walnut stock showing some nice figure and grain. Replacement solid red recoil pad. LOP 13-1/2″ over solid pad, DAC 1-5/8″, DAH 2-1/2″. Non-automatic safety. PROVENANCE: The L.C. Smith Collection of Gerald Basham. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls have restored blue. Markings are sharp. Minor ding left bbl, minor ding right bbl, barely visible from inside. Minor handling marks and thinning blues at breeches. Top rib edges have been scraped for 1″ section about 12″ from breech. Bores are bright and unpitted. Receiver has gone to silver, engraving is sharp and crisp. Screws slightly marred. Trigger bow retains all of reapplied finish. Stock and forend fit nicely. Checkering clean and sharp. Wood finish has been enhanced, shows very minor handling marks in wood. Gun is tight and operates crisply. Ejectors are strong. Very nice example of an early L.C.
