BOXED FRENCH FIRE BRIGADE TOY W/ KiCo FIRE ENGINE.

A charming french toy contained within its original colorful box. The initials W.P. & S. Excelsior Toys, is the probable manufacturer or distributor of this child’s toy. Four painted hollow tin french fireman, each holding different piece of fire apparatus in their hand and the hand-drawn hand painted, fire pumper would have made this a charming toy for a young boy to entertain himself. This toy still has the original rubber hose and nozzle in tact. Circa early part of the 20th Century this toy has many years of shelf dust, but overall is in very good plus overall condition. The penny toy sized fire engine has a clockwork mechanism contained with in, and when wound it would race along the floor. Very fine litho with nickel plated running boards and fenders along with other nickel plated accoutrements. The driver and four fireman further add to the appeal of this toy. SIZE: Box size approx 8″, 6-1/4 x 2-1/2 deep. Fire engine approx 4-1/2″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: As stated above. Box lid has aged taping to flap lids.
