*L.C. SMITH PRE-1913 PIGEON GRADE SHOTGUN.SN 6628. Cal. 12 ga. 28″ nitro-steel bbls. 2-3/4″ chambers. F/F chokes. Twin beads. Matted rib engraved “HUNTER ARMS CO. MAKERS, FULTON, N.Y.”. Gold band in rib, pigeon engraved on rib extension. Splinter forend with ebony tip and banjo release. Automatic ejectors. Trap Grade engraved receiver. Left lockplate decorated with walking pigeon and touches of scroll work. Right lockplate engraved with flighted grouse and touches of scroll. Balance of receiver treated to areas of scroll as is top lever and long tang trigger bow. Double triggers. Straight grip stock. Brown solid recoil pad. LOP 14-1/4″ over pad. DAC 1-5/8″. DAH 2-1/2″. Automatic safety. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain orig blue with much thinning and areas of patina, especially above forend region and at muzzles and breeches. Bright bores. Receiver shows orig case color strongest in protected areas. Faded color slightly evident on areas of lockplates and bottom of receiver. Trigger bow with nice blue on bow and heavily worn in grip area from use. Forend is sound with thin finish and worn checkering. Buttstock is sound, fits nicely. Checkering is worn on grip. Very tight hairline grain checks behind lockplates. Overall wood finish is good, no doubt with light, hand rubbed oil added over the years. Top lever right of center.
