FOUR EARLY GERMAN TIN OPEN TOURING CARS.The first pair, one slightly smaller than the other, the smallest features a chauffeur with two female passengers seated in the rear. The litho is bright & vibrant and the clockwork mechanism is intact & working. A charming size and a great go with for O gauge Markland layout. The second vehicle, slightly larger in size, but only having a chauffeur as opposed to passengers in the rear. It does however a simulated tin fold down roof. Mechanism is intact & functional. And again, the tin litho finish is vibrant & bright. Both cars are in very fine to near mint condition, some wear to front seat on edges where chauffeur sits(??). Both of these vehicles were possibly manufactured by Fisher. The third vehicle is rather interesting with an elongated motor hood section and a rare passenger compartment with a simulated tin fold down roof. Style of wheels is rather interesting & a similar version of this car is pictured in the book on p. 34 of Toy Autos 1890-1939 by The Peter Ottenheimer Collection. Litho’d in tin with highlighting, the overall condition is very good to fine with “shelf dust”. Clockwork mechanism intact & functional. Fourth vehicle is a Bing runabout roadster with an unusual finish., The frame is purple and the car body itself is also a slightly lightly purple with green & orange highlighting. Hunched over driver with goggles appears to be intent to get somplace quickly(?). Windup mechanism in functional order and rear of vehicle has the GBN trademark and is in fabulous condition. SIZE: Approx 4-1/2″, 6″, 6-1/2″, & 5-1/2″ l respectively. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: As described above. 1-14791 (600-900) – Lot 1120 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll Auction - Fall 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
